the no comercial contacts rule came about because some people ( I hold my guilty hand up , it wuz me yoer honour ( well not me alone but i was one of the perpetrators
)) were over plugging a certain ebay trader and i gather there was a complaint from a competitor.
There was also the secondary consideration that we regularly report / and mods remove spam posting reccomending certain companies and this is much harder to justify if regular members are posting similar things themselves (all be it with better motivations)
therefore stu banned the posting of comercial links and recmendations - however he did say that there was a degree of flexibility in this aty the mods discretion , and but that we should bear in mind the potential for complaints particularly if mentioning ebay traders or small niche companies ( Ie thee is much less chance of say jessops complaining about us recomending digital depot or vice versa)
Unfortunately I have a nasty feeling that your map company might fall into the small site/ niche market category

also is 5.99 really that cheap for an explorer map ? - I seem to recall that the RRP is about 6.99 and I've seen them for less than that in local bookshops
