Yeh, but
your not comparing like with like John. You can't expect your lens to compare with a FZ50, on a close up subject, or a Sigma 150mm.
Likewise mine, I was torn between my 150mm and the Bigma. Some you win, like the small redeye, some you loose like the close up insects. Can't win them all. Your darter shots are as good as any other. As for the damsels, your really pushing a 400mm or a 500mm to get anyway near the quality of a 150mm, nothing to do with the user.
