The house is rather old thus I know there are a million places they can hide, so I was thinking of getting traps, are there any you would recommend? Also is there anything they dont like like dunno certain smell I could spray around the house?

My advice is: Don't do it!
You'll be over run with all sorts of horrible little creepy crawly insects, Spiders are GOOD!
They do far more good than bad... Save the spiders!!
