The house is rather old thus I know there are a million places they can hide, so I was thinking of getting traps, are there any you would recommend? Also is there anything they dont like like dunno certain smell I could spray around the house?
Thanks for any suggestions,

I'd say forget it and learn to live with it!! I don't think there is any chance of ever getting rid of spiders in your house. Besides, think of all the other unpleasent creepy crawlies that your house would be filled with if it weren't for the spiders

.
Personally I don't really see many spiders around the house (unless I really go searching!). The males of
Tegenaria tend to be more visible in summer and autumn time when they run around searching for a mate.
I don't know about traps/deterrents, someone else may have suggestions - it may be worth starting a new thread since someone who is scared of spiders might not want to read this thread - especially with the attached picture!
I used to be really scared of spiders, but once I started to learn about them I became less and less scared to the point where I can now pick them up with no bother and actually go out looking for them!!

Dave.
