I don't think you're far off. Find the photo in the 'my images ' section, double click on it and it'll open to full size. Scroll down and you'll find the 'Forum Image Code'. When you initially upload, that's where your images are stored.
If you paste the code in a message, it will display the photo on the thread when you click on 'Submit reply'.
I think it may display the image full size initially, but the sites software will resize it (I think).
