A few images of the venue for the WAB dragonfly meeting.
Priory water is a disused gravel pit complex situated in the Wreake valley just to the west of the town of Melton Mowbray in leicestershire, grid reference SK 714185.
The reserve totals over 200 acres of mixed habitats including around 80 acres of lakes, ponds,& river.
The reserve is stricly private and access is granted only for the purpose of wildlife recording, this being the case it is largely undisturbed and is therefore a nature reserve in the purest form ie.. there are no hard paths, hides etc.... pathways are simply mown to provide access apart from that there is no other disturbance to the natural habitats.
There is a small field centre with Gents & Ladies toilets as well as basic kitchen facilitys and seating.
I would advise anyone coming along that the terrain can be wild & rough underfoot in places so stout foot wear and long trousers are a very good idea.
Insect repellant is also needed as Priory Water is an excellent place for insects of all kinds, unfortunately some of them do have quite a liking for human flesh/blood

Aside from that bring plenty of memory cards and charged batterys because if the weather is anything like decent you will need them!
I will post a set of directions to the reserve a bit nearer the time.
Steve.
