On the way back we bumped in to 3 people who asked us about the hide and had we seen the bird, we said we hadn't and hoped it was on a different route. Eventually we got to the spot and a really great RSPB guy let us have use of the scopes so we were able to see one of the Eagle's three nests. He said we were the first to come up to the viewing point that day and gave us some interesting facts. After a while the 3 people we had met earlier arrived, we had a natter and were dissapointed at the no show of the Eagle, although we saw 4 or 5 Red Deer including a calf which my daughter WAB member Bambi was chuffed about. As we were about to leave the RSPB guy told us a good spot for seeing Adders. So I was absolutely delighted to get some photo's of a male and female and something positive came out of the day for me.
Yesterday I had a PM from GME saying he had met us at Haweswater!!!!! I can't believe it , it was so remote, we had met twice and hadn't realised. If my photo hadn't been in the Mugshots Gareth may not have made the connection (must have been my knees, I was wearing the same shorts ). If only we had WAB badges, it would have made all the difference .
Anyway Gareth, it was nice to meet you and some of your family and thanks for contacting me. I wonder how often that has happened and members have been oblivious?

Lol!! Yep, I have a fairly good memory for people (though I bottled it and didn't want to make a prat of myself by asking at the time - kicking myself now!!). We were the only people who visited the hide all day so it was a big coincidence!!
It was a lovely walk and it was fantastic to see my first wild Adders (thanks to goosey for pointing their location out) though the no-show of the Golden Eagle was a downer (more reason to go back though I suppose)
Yeah, if we had got the badges it would have been perfect and stopped me missing the chance to have a good natter with another WAB member.
Good luck Stu - it sounds like you've got your hands very full!!! We'll wait eagerly for developments....

goosey (and bambi) it was really nice to meet you (even though I wasn't fully sure I had done). I wouldn't like to comment if it was the knees that sealed it..
Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip over here. Hope to bump into you again one day You never know, with my family's connections to Holland it could be over there next time!
