I really enjoyed it too, though I never manage to watch all the progs. I don't mind the presenters at all, I think it's best to accept that TV thrives on celebrity and at least someone famous is representing UK wildlife. Maybe we would prefer real experts, but they don't grab the wider population in the same way an enthusiastic amateur does. For me it's the artifice thats harder to swallow, ie sitting in some nice looking country kitchen when you know it's probably a studio or just bumping into wildlife at times. But they are clearly quite honest about this and I thought the final programmes when they showed all the equipment, cabling and people who make the programme work was fascinating.
Anyway, if you really do want a Summer and Winter watch, why not dress appropriately, grab the binoculars and a camera, and make your own
