We tend to think of three pattern variants in UK - which are very variable within themselves (
). The non-melanic
succinea form can have between 0 and 25 (maybe more?) black spots on red background. I don't think we've had a picture of an absolutely spotless one before so have posted this one from my good friend Les Wilson:
