| Re: A few hours in the Wyre Forest Our local RSPB reserve is under threat of closure at the moment because of the shortage of water.A lot of birds that would normally be there have taken off. Two dry winters have been to blame as well as too many houses being built here in the SE.
We have got some excellent reserves further out. Dungeness is a briiliant place but because it's so big,and if your'e relatively new to birding like me, you could do with a guide.
One good thing that has happened though is the possibility of country park being created on our doorstep. Farming land has been bought by the Forestry Commision to be made into, meadowland, native woods and green space. That will take a few years but hopefully it may attract back some of our woodland birds that are rapidly disappearing. Hope they set a piece for brambles and the like then one day I may actually see a bullfinch! ww |
