Its worth pointing out that in England a Wales it is illeagal to shoot all species of dear, even Muntjac (but there was talk about lowering the minimum calibre for this species to .222), with anything less than a .240 calibre rifle & a muzzle energy of 1,700ft/lb. Bullets must be soft or hollow-nosed.
But in Scotland the law is slightly different. Restrictions are on ammunition rather than the rifle & the minimum calibre for Roe is lower, so the minimum for Roe would be .222 Remington & all other deer in Scotland (Red, Sika & Fallow) must also be .240
