Sounds very much to me like you have an infestation of the larder beetle and it's larvae in your property, my old place had a lot too especially under the carpets and in the cracks in the floor they feed on bits of food etc and come out in the dark and were worse in the kitchen when the cracks in the floor had crumbs and bits of food go down them that I wasn't able to clear up!
Type in larder beetle online and check out some of the images they have of them and their brown hairy larvae, it will also perhaps tell you what to do to eradicate them!
