I think that your best bet is putting out mixed seed to attract most birds but putting out fat will attract starlings, nuts in a mesh feeder at all times of year will attract birds such as greenfinches, woodpeckers, tits and sparrows sunflower seeds or hearts will attract all the birds that come for mixed seed. Apples will attract blackbirds and thrushes,robins absoloutely love mealworms but like everything else they are usually taken by the blooming starlings, thistle or niger seed will bring in green and gold finches and you could also attract birds with other fruits but other than apples and pears nothing really works. other members will probably give you better advice but this is what i use to bring the birds to my garden. regards Martin |
