Yesterday was the first time I'd ever voted for the greens (Arun Mathur). Realistically, he never had a chance of winning, I just thought my vote might help cheer him up a bit. In the end though, he finished in a pretty respectable third place, and ahead of the Labour candidate

(I'm not sure if that is any kind of a breakthrough in this area but it's still quite impressive to me.) I don't think I'd like the green party to run the country but I'm all for them having a significant voice in things.
It is interesting that Brighton seems to be the #1 hotbed for the green party in the UK. I know the 'Right-on Brighton' stereotype but it isn't a remotely rural or 'green' place. It's hard to think of anywhere in the UK, outside of London, where people live on top of each other more. Perhaps that's it
