I was very sad to see this Moorhen limping about on the farm I do most of my bird photography, it has fishing line around its right foot the line has balled up under the foot and the moorhen has a pronounced limp.
I with the farmer have tried to capture the bird; I fear it will only be caught when it is too injured or weak to be saved. I as a fisherperson feel embarrassed to see the amount of line involved; it is possible to restrict the amount of line lost even if it is snapped in use. I do worry that this line was just discarded.
