To be honest for just a few more more quid the Canon is a far better option, its built beautifully, handles like a dream, plus there's just far more technology for the money, and with being a semi-pro spec model it's not a camera that you will out-grow.
Ok, there's still the lens issue, but you have to remember that in all probability they are not DX optimised lenses anyway, most of mine weren't, and as I still have my Nikon f80 to use them with I figured that it was time for a complete change, and looking back on it now I'm so glad I made that choice.
