I have emailed the supplier about sending the lens back and he told me that its a canon warranty and to contact Canon Uk ? Its a tricky one as I used to work in retail and we would always replace goods and sort it out with the supplier ourselves. I suppose I will contact Canon and see what they say.

its a tricky one because as an ebay trader they don't have quite the same abilities or commitments as a propper retail chain - that said i have alway found him to be responsible about dealing with such things especially as he gets a lot of business out of wab so if canon wont play ball you should definitely go back to him for an exchange.
