joking aside hari - I'm with the others on here , its that new take it back and insist on a replacement rather than a repair - once you have a new lens you can lubricatethe screw thread to stop this happening again by running a soft graphite pencil (2 or 3 b is ideal) arround the thread on both lens and lens hood - i find this far safer than using liquid lubricants which might get on your optics |

I have emailed the ebay trader about sending the lens back and he told me that its a canon warranty and to contact Canon Uk ? Its a tricky one as I used to work in retail and we would always replace goods and sort it out with the supplier ourselves. I suppose I will contact Canon and see what they say.
