I heard some comment on this news report in the car this morning but thought I must have misunderstood. Clearly not. I have a very bad feeling about this - mixing plant genes is one thing, but including human genes in plants is a real leap into the dark. It hasn't yet been finally approved, I gather, but it looks as though it will be. The company are saying the modification can't get into the food chain, but it's difficult to see what they can do to guarantee that, as they are intending to plant 3000 acres in the midst of other farmland. |
