I read this too and, although I love dogs, I refuse to be squeamish about another culture choosing to see it as a food source....
I might even try some if I was there [ducks to avoid flying virtual missiles thrown at my head].
Personally I'm partial to a bit of horse when I go to France but my horse owning friends consider me to be positively barbarian as a result.
The concern about this story is people's pets being stolen for the purpose as dogs become less common on the streets of Nigeria. However, in the UK, I once lost a cat which the police believe was taken for dog fights which were under investigation in the area at the time.
