Description: 

This is one of the most brightly coloured of the milkcaps that is found in rings or troops with Spruce in all sorts of locations.

Distribution: 

Common to very common.

Habitat: 

Found in troops or rings in all types of locations with Larch

Cap: 

Convex when young, later till eventually slightly funnel-shaped with the edge of the cap sometimes remaining inrolled. Cap colour is a rich salmon orange often becoming mottled green with age or bruising, sticky when moist.

Flesh: 

Pale-yellow but white at the centre of the stem, tastes slightly bitter.

Gills: 

Slightly decurrent, crowded, same colour as cap and exude orange milk when damaged.

Spores: 

Off-white

Stem: 

Smooth, often flecked with darker orange and easily bruising green.
