Blackish/Sooty grey with a white bill and frontal shield. The legs and lobed toes are a silvery grey colour with the sides of the legs having a yellowish green tinge and just above the joint there is an orange/red band.
Diet
Coots feed mostly on aquatic plants such as duckweed and grasses but also eat aquatic snails, insect and larvae.
