Description: 

The entire fruit body of the Cauliflower fungus is reminiscent of a coarse bath sponge and mature specimens can be huge and weight several pounds.

Habitat: 

Found at the base of coniferous trees - tho conifers can be part of a mixed woodland

Cap: 

Sub-globose, cauliflower-like, with numerous flattened, crisped lobes

Flesh: 

The flesh is white and waxy with a spicy odour and a pleasant nutty taste.

Spores: 

Pale ochre.

Stem: 

A short thick, white rooting stem, often hidden by the main body.

Additional Notes: 

Crispa means "curly"
