Place Description: 
Nature trails, birdwatching hides, occasional livestock grazing
Habitat: 
Estuary, reedbeds and salt marsh, freshwater dykes,
Wildlife Description: 
Internationally important for migratory, overwintering and breeding wetland birds, including avocet, redshank, snipe, lapwing, water rail, bearded reedling, common tern and garganay, black-tailed godwit, ruff, little stint, curlew, greenshank, sandpiper and whimbrel. Overwintering species include brent goose, dunlin, wigeon, merlin, hen harrier, short-eared owl, bittern and twite. Flowering plants include golden samphire, sea lavender, sea purslane, sea clover and thrift.

Wildlife Description: 
Dark-bellied Brent goose, little egret, wigeon, black-tailed godwit, lapwing, little owl, cuckoo, green woodpecker, reed warbler, Cetti's warbler. Butterflies include white-letter hairstreak, green hairstreak, small copper, and grizzled skipper. Dragonflies include broad-bodied chaser, blue-tailed damselfly, azure damselfly, common darter, hairy hawker and golden-ringed dragonfly. Mammals include roe deer, fox, pipistrelle bat and long-eared bat. Viviperous lizard, adder and grass snake. Plants from sea kale, yellow horned poppy, slender hare's ear to marsh marigold, English stonecrop, wild carrot, bird's-foot trefoil and lords and ladies.
