The old estate cottages at Wheatfen were home to Ted and Phyllis Ellis for over 40 years, and during that time, Ted spent most of his time studying and recording the habitat and wildlife of this special place. Ted was one of Norfolk's greatest ever naturalists, and was the keeper of natural history at Norwich's Castle Museum for many years. For decades, he wrote daily nature articles for the local newspaper, the Eastern Daily Press, as well as articles for several national newspapers.
