Rum Nature Reserve

Rum is an island of just ove 100 square kilometres situated off the West coast of Scotland that was bought by the Nature Conservancy Council (now known as Scottish Natural Heritage) in 1957. The island is a haven for a wide variety of birds and mammals. The Cuillans of Rum can be seen from all around the island and permission must be obtained from the SNH to climb them.

Loch Garten, Abernethy

Loch Garten visitors centre is a large building constructed from natural Scots Pine timber mainly form Abernethy Forest itself. The centre has viewing windows with high powered binoculars and telescopes available all year round. The reserve itself has excellent woodland walks, many suitable for wheelchair access. The trails are colour coded with descriptions of the walks signposted.

Loch Ardinning Wildlife Reserve

Loch Ardinning is 60 acre lake situated directly beside the A81 between the towns of Milngavie and Strathblane in Central Scotland. The loch is encircled by a pathway which is tarmac most of the way for wheelchair acces. There are several rough paths leading up onto Muirhouse Muir, which is a massive area of moorland with coniferous and deciduous woodland areas. The path circles the moor, eventually leading back to the loch.
