Distribution:
Typically found around the coastlines of Devon and Cornwall, the west coast of Wales and the Moray Firth and Aberdeen Coastline in Scotland.
Reproduction:
Females begin breeding at about 10 years old, mating in the spring and summer months and giving birth to a single calf about 10-12 months later. During birth, it's not uncommon to find two or three dolphins helping the mother to give birth by gently tugging the newborn from it's mother. Several more dolphins will often provide a defence area around the mother and calf to protect them from predators during this vulnerable period.\n\nOnce born, the calf will usually feed on it's mother's milk for the first six months then find food with it's parent for a further 12 months before becoming fully independent.
