The fruitbody's upper surface is ochraceous-brown to grey, paler at the margin and finely downy, way and concentrically zoned. The lower hymenial surface is reddish-brown, resupinate or reflexed and smooth.
The flesh is reddish-ochre, thin and is tough and elastic when moist, hard and brittle when dry. Colour changes to blood red when cut.
