An encrustation or small bracket that is found, often in overlapping tiers on stumps and rotting wood of broadleaf trees, favouring Oak.
The upper surface of the fruit body or bracket is ochraceous, often with a pinkish tint and distinct margin, faintly warty; the lower surface is smooth, ochraceous, resupinate and less commonly, reflexed.
Thin, ochraceous, elastic and tough when damp, brittle and hard when dry, reddens where cut. Odour and taste not distinctive.
Common throughout the year , sporulating from late Summer and Autumn.
On dead and rotting broadleaf wood, often in overlapping tiers.
Inedible.
