Black Stork is not quite as big as a White Stork and can be identified by the head, neck and upperparts being completely black. Birds look entirely black in flight apart from their white bodies, wingpits and the red legs and bills.
Distribution
Rare vagrant to the British Isles, mostly in the spring and summer.
Habitat
Feeds to the side of rivers or lakes and in marshy fields. Breeds in wooded areas or on riverside cliffs.
Reproduction
Black Storks lay 3-5 white eggs in April to June. Incubation takes 35-36 days. Young fledge after 63-73 days. 1 brood per year.
