Description: 

Black Bindweed is a slender plant that is a climber, which twines clockwise up other palnts. In the absence of other plants it will grow prostrate on the ground. The leaves are heart shaped with a short stalk and are pointed at the tip. The flowers, which are greenish-white, are produced in clusters of 2-6 and grow from the axils of the leaves.

Distribution: 

Common in the south of the U.K. but less so the further north one travels.

Habitat: 

Found growing in arable fields, waste-land and verges. It prefers a light sandy soil but is also found on clay soils and virtually absent from chalky soil.
