Blooms from June - August. The stem becoming woody. The flowers are violet, 5 lobed, usually turned back, with the fruit green, turning bright red. Fruit are poisonous.
Widespread throughout the U.K.
Grows in woodland, fen and waste ground in nutrient rich moist soil.
