Information
Description: 

A small agaric found solitary or in scattered groups with broadleaf tree, preferably with Birch.

Distribution: 

Common from Summer till Autumn.

Habitat: 

With broadleaf trees, especially Birch.

Cap: 

Flatly convex, matt, rust-brown with orange or ochraceous tinges, more pallid with age, central papilla, striate or sulcate at the margin.

Flesh: 

Cap flesh whitish or buff, granular, brittle, thin. Stem flesh buff or whitish, stuffed, becoming hollow.

Gills: 

Adnate or slightly decurrent, narrow, fairly crowded, ochraceous-buff becoming cinnamon with age.

Stem: 

Tapering slightly towards apex, concolorous with cap, becoming brick-red towards the base, ring absent, becoming hollow.

Additional Notes: 

Milk gradually turns yellow on a handkerchief. Not the only species that does this but it is the most common. Ref: Ken Burgess
