Description: 

A medium to large fungus that is edible and tasty found, usually growing in groups or rings in meadows and pastureland.

Distribution: 

Occasional from Summer till Autumn.

Habitat: 

Pastures and fields, often growing in troops.

Cap: 

Initially convex and whitish, splitting into large ochraceous scales or patches, the cap margin becoming toothed with age.

Flesh: 

Firm and whitish, occasionally reddening in the stem on cutting. Taste is mushroomy. Odour is faintly of almonds when young, quickly smelling more of ammonia.

Gills: 

Initially the gills are a whitish-grey colour, finally dark brown.
