Description

This is a variable species, which often has a distinctive mark on the upperwing in the shape of a triangle. The moth is usually greyish in colour with lighter and darker specks.

Distribution

Common throughout the U.K.

Habitat

Woodland, flying from August through October.

Diet

The larvae feed on Fagus (Beech) and Acer (Sycamore).
